Net Neutrality Fans Rejoice: The FCC Will Reclassify Broadband | GigaOm . It seems the FCC will lobby congress to pass some new laws to give it the authority to rule over Internet providers and the connections they provide. This is going to turn out to be an interesting fight.

Why Obama's Cell Calls Will Never Fail, The Commander-In-Chief Has A Priority Connection Thanks To An Agency Established By President Kennedy | CBS News. Here is an interesting little article about how they give priority to some phone calls. It is a good read if you are interested in this kind of stuff.

How You Can Save The World | Visions for Tomorrow. This is a blog post by one of my favorite physicists Dr. Michio Kaku, It will make you stop and think about your place in this world.

Mixed reviews for illegal file-sharing on campus | cnet.com. "Congress passes the Higher Education Act 2008 with provisions that require universities and colleges to deter illegal file-sharing. A tech-education group doesn't like it, but Hollywood does." This is mixed news for me. They did modify the bill slightly so this is a better version. I still wish it would not pass but the President has the bill now. At least he is in China at the Olympics so it might not be signed for a while.

MPAA says it shouldn’t have to provide evidence to convict pirates because it’s ‘very difficult’ | crunchgear. Has our society really come to this. Is there such apathy to all things that people will just say your wrong and you will be wrong. We founded this country on "Innocent until PROVEN guilty". Not on "well I think they did it so you have to give us money." Please people write your congressperson and get involved in politics. These people represent US.

Free Wireless Internet For the Masses: Another Dumb Scheme From Washington | gizmodo.com I have to agree that this is an unlikely proposal, but I still think it is quite interesting. This would be fast enough to be usable for causal browsing and would be great if it was available to all. We need more politicians at least trying with new ideas like this.

FRONTLINE: bush's war | PBS. This, I believe, is a must see for anyone interested in politics. I caught the first hour or so on PBS the other night and was amazed. Frontline does some great investigative reporting and the production of the show is amazing. I encourage everyone to watch this so we can know what to avoid in the future. Get out and VOTE!

Watch out, you're being watched | Seattle Times Newspaper. A surprisingly honest report from a border agent. This is what we need in America, more people explaining how things work and why they are good. I still do not agree with all this monitoring, but talking about it is a start.

Douglas MacKinnon: No place for partisans on NASA, space exploration | Houston Chronicle. I could not agree more. I see space travel as highly important for our science, math and educational system as a whole. We need to keep pushing the technology and exploration. We are just now able to see some of the benefits that came from the space race. I would hate to see the next president push politics in front of science, innovation and space exploration.

Rogue Satellite's Rotten, $10 Billion Legacy | Danger Room from Wired.com. Some interesting history on the satellite that was shot down this week. This looks like a doomed project from the word go. I love the quote from the Boeing engineers when they say that the specs are unbuildable. This is a must read.

Controversial college funding bill passed—P2P proviso intact | arstechnica.com. I wrote to my congress people about this matter. This will put undue pressure on College IT staff. This provision needs to be removed from this bill. Here is the EFF's take on the bill and you can track the bill at OpenCongress.org. Update: Even some congress people agree that this is a bad part of the bill.

Clinton/Obama: Not First Dream Ticket | ABC News. Wow. This is kind of amazing that anyone would even think of this back in those times. I like how the writer chose to remain anonymous, probably for the best. This is interesting to say the least.

Mitt Romney Drops Out of GOP Presidential Race | NPR. Looks like the republican race is narrowing down now. This will be a very interesting convention season. We will have to wait until late August to learn more from the democrats and September for the republicans.

CNN Hits The Wall for the Election | washingtonpost.com. This is the latest in Election Reporting gear. Once I saw how the multi-touch worked, I knew it would be seen on TV. This is a great example of how computers can make things more interesting. It almost made the election coverage worth watching. I am just looking forward to the day when I can have one of these in my house and I can see the results myself. CNN would be sad then, since I would no longer need to watch. I wrote about a similar display back in the 2004 elections.

.Mac Web Gallery - Bill at SIUE. I went to listen to the Ex-President Bill today. It was a mildly entertaining speech. A lot of rah rah Hillary is great. I do agree with a lot of her policy proposals. I also agree with a lot of Barack Obama's ideas. It will be an interesting tuesday. We will have to wait and see who gets the most votes.

Bill Clinton to campaign in Edwardsville for Hillary | BND.com. Tomorrow will be an exciting day at work. I will have to get up early to try and avoid this mess. I would like to be in my office by 7:30 am so that I can try and avoid the "Men in Black". I will try and take some pictures if it is not too much of a mad house.

Well election day and we voted. Lots of people running uncontested. Voted mostly democratic. Wondering now if that makes me a democrat. Oh well. Only went there to vote for the school. Proposition E, which failed as usual, would have increased taxes and made better schools. Sorry mom could not pass it by myself but I tried.
