Today I helped my friend Daryl pour a concrete porch at his house. I would have been home before noon, if the truck had shown up on time. It was supposed to be there at 9:00 am but their computers went down and they lost all the jobs for the day. So Daryl called them at 10:00 and they said they would be right out. After about a thirty minute wait the concrete truck showed up. So it was well after noon when I finally got home, but I did get lunch out of them. :)

Well this week I received some really good news. For those of you that do not know, late last year my father was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He has smoked for 50 years or so, so this did not come as a total surprise to me. The doctors removed his bladder and he went through chemotherapy early this year. The good news is that we just had the review after all that and there is no detectable cancer now in his body. This is very good news indeed. We hope now that we can try and get things back to normal around here.
On Sunday, we have Sarah’s christening. I will be her godfather. I am excited and looking forward to the event. I hope not to get too nervous while I am up there. I am sure all will be good.

Dave has rested and settled into his hotel. The trip total was just over 2200 miles. Thanks to all who followed the amazing wandering Dave in his cross country trip.

Dave is looking at this place for an apartment. From their website the place looks really good. Plus they are pet friendly which is always a good thing. He has a meeting tomorrow to look at the place. Now Dave is just driving around SF and trying to get acclimated.

Dave is now officially in San Francisco, CA. He has called a couple places about apartments. He hopped on the 101 and is heading to a place that looks promising. He said he would check in later and tell me more about the place.

Dave is crossing the Bay Bridge right now from Oakland to San Francisco, CA. He will now spend some time apartment hunting before checking into a hotel for the night. Good luck Dave.

Dave is outside Sacramento, CA. He is moving allong well today. He said he would check back in an hour or so. Updated travel map.

Dave is up and at 'em this morning. He is getting ready to check out and hit the road. He says the stay was great in his big room. Next goal is the final one in San Fran. Travel map.

Dave has checked into Reno, NV. He hit a little bit of construction in Nevada that delayed him a little. He is staying at the Hilton in a huge room. He walked it off and estimates it is 40 feet by 20 feet. Not too bad for $39 a night and $10 for high speed internet. Updated travel map.

Dave is nearing the Nevada border. He had to stop and pick up some candy to keep moving. Always a good time for a little junk food. He is still planning on spending the night in Reno, NV. He will update me when he arrives there.

Dave has just called me and checked in. He is outside of Salt Lake City near Wanship, UT and over 1400 miles into his trip. He is suffering the effects of a head cold that is slowing him down a little. Cell service has been spotty at best and nonexistant lately. I guess T-Mobile can not cover the whole USA. Updated travel map.

Dave is outside Laramie, WY right now. He has 160 miles already driven today. He got an early start to try and avoid the Denver, CO traffic and was successful. His next stop will probably be in Rock Springs, WY for some food and such and to update me on the travels. Updated map.

Dave is now in Denver, CO. He is staying at the Drury Inn East there for $49 a night with high speed internet! How cool is that. Here is the map. He will spend the night and then head out to the west. It looks like the next stop will be in Reno, NV for an overnight stay.

Dave is now outside Hays, KS. Here is an updated map of his travels.

Dave is on his way. I will try and track his progress. He is outside Kansas City, MO right now. Here is a map of his travels so far. Looks like he is planning on stopping in Denver, CO for the night. He said he would check in again later in the day.

This was a good news and bad news weekend. The good news was that my friend found a Job. The bad news was that it is in San Francisco, Ca. Well, one can not win them all. We will miss you Dave. Wish you the best in your new job and move.

Well happy belated 4th of July to all. Amber and I have been busy. We spent last weekend and some of this week in the Ozarks with my parents. This was the first time my parents had been down this year. It was a nice couple days and the weather was wonderful. Then we came back home and spent Wednesday night at some friend’s house to watch some fireworks. Yesterday we worked on rewiring our second floor. We are in the process of updating and moving our office to the upstairs. This will keep us busy for a little while. For those of you who were following the FIFA Confederations Cup, France defeated Cameroon 1-0. It was a long game that went into overtime before Henry scored in the 97th minute.
