Classroom educational activities are enhanced through mainstage and student theater/dance productions. Emphasis is placed on the development of critical thinking abilities, discipline-specific technique, and collaborative/communication skills, as well as the ability of students to consider their work within historical and contemporary contexts. Our students are challenged to view themselves as collaborating professionals on the first day they step into a classroom.

The Department provides instruction and practical performance experience in all phases of theater and dance production for the stage. While students are encouraged to develop their creative, intellectual and technical potential in the performing arts, they also have the opportunity to pursue minors in diverse areas such as mass communications, psychology, anthropology, history and more.
