Curriculum and Instruction
Overview
The Master of Science in education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction provides practicing teachers with the opportunity to develop deeper and broader understandings of the challenges of teaching and learning in today’s diverse schools. In addition, individuals who work in other educational settings, such as museums, may also deepen their understanding of issues related to curriculum and instruction. This program draws on the many areas of expertise of the curriculum and instruction faculty and offers opportunities for learning that can help students become leaders in their professions. At SIUE, students may customize a degree plan to meet their career needs.
This program is offered through the Department of Teaching and Learning in the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior.
Program Format
Classes in the curriculum and instruction program at SIUE are offered in flexible formats. In the fall and spring semesters, courses are offered in the evening. Summer courses are offered in various time frames and months. Courses are offered in various formats:
- In-person, blended/hybrid format
- Requires two to four campus visits
- Online synchronous
- Online asynchronous
Depending on the courses you choose, you may be able to complete your degree online.
