Interim Argos Access Solution:
Due to a serious security threat that could allow others to take over your computer, ITS recommends that you DO NOT use Internet Explorer until Microsoft provides a patch. In the meantime, ITS recommends you use Firefox (www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) or Google Chrome (https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/) to access the Banner Enterprise Information System
Internet Explorer is currently the only browser that is supported for accessing the Argos software, therefore we have devised an alternative solution to allow you to access Argos.
Note: This is an interim solution to access Argos while we are waiting for Microsoft to send a fix for Internet Explorer. When the security problem is resolved and applied to your PC, you should resume using the browser method for the latest version of the Argos software.
Here are the steps you need to follow:
-
Press the "Windows" key at the bottom of your keyboard and the letter 'R' at the same time.
This will open a Run window.
-
In the field next to 'Open', enter the following: %AppData%
Press 'OK'.
-
This will open Windows Explorer to the folder "Your name" > AppData > Roaming.
-
You should see a folder called 'Evisions' in your Roaming folder list. Double-click on it to select it.
-
Select the 'MAPClients' folder in the Evisions folder list.
-
Select the 'Argos' folder in the MapClients folder list.
-
Within the Argos folder is a list of folders for each Argos version. Select the folder called 3.8.2.427.
-
The list should contain a file called 'argosClient.exe'. Click on it once to highlight the file name, then right-mouse-click on it.
-
Select 'Copy' from the drop-down list.
-
Go to your Desktop. Right-mouse-click in an open area of the desktop. Select 'Paste Shortcut' from the drop-down list. This will create an Argos icon that reads 'argosClient-Shortcut'.
-
Double-click on the icon, and you will open your Argos software window.
