Sunday - March 9          

9 am      Check in for flight to Cuba, departing at 1:00 pm.
1 pm      Arrive Havana.  Transfer to Hotel Plaza.  Check in and settle into rooms.
              Note: The time for the flight to and from Havana may change, due to scheduling by the airline company.
Evening      Welcome dinner and orientation at the Hotel Plaza with photographer Héctor Delgado, photographer liaison for the group who works both as an official monument and event photographer through the Union of Artists and Writers (UNEAC) and in his own work focuses on the subject of Afro-Cuban religious rites and ceremonies.  He will be joined by fellow UNEAC photographer Rolando Pujol, a one time war correspondent, and by Tony Diaz, Professor, University of Havana and liaison for Common Ground. (Dinner included.)

Monday - March 10                      

7-8:00 am     Breakfast at the hotel. (Included)
9:30 am        Travel to the town of Regla.  Visit  the Church of the Black Virgin and explore the town.  Visit the studio of artist Cesar Leal and with the Historian of the City, Pedro Cosmé Baños whose office is in the former studio of the late great artist Antonio Canet. 
10:30 am      Visit to the Municipal Museum.  Presentation on the afro-sycnretic religions with museum director Director Raisa Forguera with illustrating performances of music and dance by Nsila Cheche.
12:30 pm     Take the Ferry back to the mainland.  Lunch at El Templete restaurant in Old Havana. (Included)
3:00 pm       Walking Old Havana:  Fountain of India, Capitol building, ¨Almendrones¨ American cars from the 40 and 50s and Paseo del Prado and surroundings.  Obispo Street, Cathedral Square, Armas Square and San Francisco Convent Square.  Meet with independent artists and shopkeepers.
5:30 pm       Concert at the San Francisco Chapel. 
Evening       Dinner and activities to be arranged. (Not included)

Tuesday - March 11

7-8:00 am    Breakfast at the hotel. (Included)
9:00 am       Visit to the Fototeca, Cuban Photo Archives.  Meet with additional photographers and review the archives and the work of the Fototeca.  Discussion.
12:30 pm     Break for lunch (Not included)
2:00 pm       Visit to the towns of Guanabacoa, Casablanca and to the Statue of Christ, travel the Via Blanco and the hills of Luyano and San Catalina through Cerro Boulevard to the Infanta.  Meet with artisans.  Visit local markets and talk with shopkeepers. 
6:00 pm       Photographing along the Malecón and into Vedado and La Rampa into the evening, with opportunities for meeting and talking with the many people who gather along the sea wall. 
Evening       Dinner and the jazz scene (Not included)

Wednesday - March 12

7:00 am      Quick breakfast at the hotel. (Included)
7:15 am      Visit the Morro-Cabañas complex, Havana view from across the bay.  Meet with the artisans and shopkeepers who run crafts stores as well as with the curators of the several small museums in the complex.
12:30 pm    Break for lunch. (Not included)
2:00 pm      Travel to Cojimar, Hemingway´s picturesque fishing town on which he based the characters and story, The Old Man and the Sea.  Continue to Finca Vigía, Hemingway’s house.  Talk with Conservators and others involved with the Hemingway preservationproject. 
4:00 pm      Returning to Havana, meeting with Rafael Hernández or Esteban Morales, both economists known for their thinking outside the box.  Opportunities for discussion of current and ongoing economic changes in Cuba.
Evening      A far ranging tour of the Havana night scene.  Tropicana and other night life and clubs, both the known and lesser known. (Entrances optional and not included, Dinner not included)

Thursday - March 13           

7-8:00 am   Breakfast at the hotel. (Included)
8:30 am      Depart for Pinar del Rio.
Day            Visit to Las Terrazas complex, Viñales Valley and Pinar del Rio City. 
Mid day      Lunch at Palenque de Cimarrones or similar (Included)
Afternoon   Continue exploring.  The bus will make several stops for opportunities to meet with farmers and in small towns and rural centers. 
Evening      Dinner and overnight at Hotel Jazmines or similar.  (Dinner not included.)

Friday - March 14        

6:00 am       Opportunity to get out into the early morning light of the valley
7-8:00 am    Breakfast at the hotel. (Included)
Morning      Continued hiking in Viñales Valley and in the surrounding small towns.  Opportunities to meet with local people. 
Afternoon    Visit to Soroa and the Orchid Garden.  Meet with the Garden’s botanists and gardeners who will explain the collection and the history of the gardens.   Lunch in Soroa. (Included)
Evening       Return to Havana.  Farewell dinner (Included)

Saturday - March 15          

9 am    Breakfast at the hotel.  Transfer to the airport. (Included)
11 pm     Flight home, arriving Miami at approximately 12.
             Note: The time for the flight to and from Havana may change, due to scheduling by the airline company.  When making arrangments for domestic
             flights from Miami, plan on at least four hours from the time of arrival in Miami.  This will allow for any delays in fights and customs.
