Consumer Information Disclosures

The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) requires institutions participating in federally funded financial aid programs to make information about the institution available to the public, current and prospective students, current and prospective student loan borrowers, and current employees.  This site provides information to help consumers make informed decisions about higher education.

Accreditation

SIUE is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and has joined the Open Pathway. In addition to overall accreditation of the University, many of its departments and programs are accredited by professional agencies.


Cost of Attendance

Information concerning the cost of attending SIUE is available from the Admissions Office. These costs consist of tuition and fees, books and supplies, room and board, and any additional costs for a program in which the student is enrolled or expresses an interest.

Confidentiality of Student Records and Student Health Records (FERPA and HIPAA)

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records. SIUE publishes a Statement on Right to Privacy and Nondisclosure that delineates student rights under FERPA and a Policy on Release of Student Information and Access to Student Records.

Freedom of Information Act

As an Illinois public body, Southern Illinois University is subject to and complies with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 ILCS 140/.

Services for Students with Disabilities

Disability Support Services (DSS) is dedicated to providing reasonable curricular and co-curricular accommodations to students with disabilities at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. DSS also has services which students can use to increase skills in learning, time management, and test-taking. Both accommodations and services are offered to students with disabilities who have provided documentation of disability and are approved through the application process.

SIUE values a diverse community and embraces the unique characteristics of students with disabilities. Through community partnership, academic accommodations, and services to students with disabilities, DSS and SIUE have excelled at the inclusion of all students as they obtain their educational goals.

Students must register and request services from the DSS office, which is located in the Student Success Center, Room 1270. An individualized accommodation plan is developed according to each student's needs. Requests for services should be made as soon as a student is accepted to the University or as soon as possible.

New Horizons is a student organization open to all persons interested in the issues and concerns of people with disabilities. Please contact the DSS for more information.

Textbook Information / Required Course Materials

The online SIUE Schedule of Classes includes a link to textbook and required materials for each course as soon as the information is available for a given term. Undergraduate courses utilize textbook rental. Textbook information is also available directly from the University bookstore website.

Career Development Services

The SIUE Career Development Center assists students and alumni in acquiring the information and skills necessary to transition from university life to the a career world-of-work. The Center assists students and alumni with career counseling, internship opportunities, resume development, interview preparation, graduate school applications, career fairs and employer connections.
