How to Get Started
SIUE is home to 250 plus student organizations that serve a wide variety of interests. Students can choose from academic honor societies, fraternities and sororities, professional, recreational, cultural, religious, and special interest groups. If you cannot find what you are looking for, consider starting a new organization!
Recognized status for your new group will allow you to take advantage of all the resources and privileges offered by Student Government and the Kimmel Student Involvement Center.
- Recognized student organizations have the right to:
- Request the use of University facilities and services
- Recruit members on campus under the organization’s name
- Solicit on campus under the organization’s name
- Promote the organization and activities on campus
- Request student activity fee funding from Student Government
- Receive publications and be included in mailings from the Kimmel Leadership Center
- Request support and assistance from the Kimmel Leadership Center staff and all other services and activities developed for the benefit of recognized organizations
The first step is to begin your application on Get Involved at SIUE. The “Register a New Organization” application can be found under the “Organizations” tab on Get Involved at SIUE.
Contact the Kimmel Student Involvement Center for help in creating your organization, developing your constitution (sample constitution) and seeking recognition. Additionally, you can contact Student Organization Relations Officer -Abin Paudel (apaudel@siue.edu) with specific questions about the recognition process.
