Overview
Student Government office open (Monday - Friday, 8am – 4:30pm) to serve the SIUE students.
Student Government represents undergraduate, graduate and professional students at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. It consists of two branches, Executive and Legislative, and its primary function is to serve as an advocate on student issues and voice students’ concerns about campus issues.

Nicole Burbach, Vice President Major: Biochemistry Vision for Student Government: "As Student Body Vice President, I will help students feel included and empowered by encouraging them to speak up about any barriers they may face. I will do this by promoting policy changes and holding administration accountable. It is my goal to create an ever-changing, united, and equitable campus environment. As Vice President, I will support the senators and provide them with the resources that they need to succeed. Facilitating more senator involvement on campus is important, as it's a goal of mine to grow Student Government's presence and influence. I will seek to provide more support for the wellbeing and mental health of everyone on campus, and I will do this by allocating more funding for Counseling Services, as well as working with them to carry over the new peer education program from the spring 2022 semester. In addition, extending the library's hours and creating more study spaces on campus is important to boost academic success for all students."
Hobbies: Spending quality time with my cat, roasting marshmallows, and watching Criminal Minds.

Hailee O'Dell, Student Trustee Hometown: Glen Carbon, IL Year in School: Senior Major: Psychology with Nutrition Minor Vision for Student Government: "I am looking forward to watching Student Government as a whole flourish and grow this upcoming year through visibility and transparency efforts. I plan to continue making SIUE a better place to learn, work, live and thrive by advocating for students in the areas of mental health, dining services, and accessibility. These priorities will be reflected in my work on the Board of Trustees." Hobbies: I spend much of my free time with my friends, family and puppy. I enjoy staying active in any way I can, but my absolute favorite way to stay active is by biking on the Madison County Bike Trails.
Other campus involvement: I am the co-chair for the University Center Board and a volunteer in our community garden. I am also a cougar connector for FST classes, SIUE experience guide, and a New Student Orientation leader.

Mackenzie Richards, External Affairs Officer Hometown: Granite City, IL Year in School: Junior Major: Psychology Vision for Student Government: "This year, I plan to bring back old traditions and events that we love, while creating new opportunities and events for our campus community. I intend to create events that all students feel both welcome at and excited about. I can't wait to see what this year holds!" Since beginning to attend SIUE in Summer 2021, I have learned how impactful involvement in Student Life on campus can be on someone's experience at SIUE, Student Government being one of those organizations that positively impacts the experience for students. I want to help bring about positive change to ensure that the college experience is as good as it can be for the current and future students of this university." Legislative
2022-2023 Legislative Branch
The legislative branch of Student Government consists of 20 senators elected by the Student Body during annual elections held during Spring Semester or appointed, pursuant to the Student Government Constitution. Two of these twenty elected Senators are graduate students.; and two freshman senators are appointed during the Fall Semester.
