Cougar Cupboard Food & Essentials Pantry
The Cougar Cupboard is a non-profit food pantry located at SIUE serving students, faculty, and staff members. The Cougar Cupboard's food and toiletry items are supported entirely through donations.
Who We Are
Our mission is to fight food insecurity and hunger on the SIUE campus, create connections within our community, and to support our clients through empowerment and self-determination.
We offer clients and individualized and dignified shopping experience with convenience and anonymity. This allows our students, faculty, and staff members to have equitable access to food and supportive services.
Our Why
Food Insecurity
37% of students experiences limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food, or the ability to acquire such food in a socially acceptable manner in the prior 30 days.
Housing Insecurity
37% of students experiences one or more challenged that prevented them from having a safe, affordable, and consistent place to live in the previous year.
Basic Need Insecurity
52% of students experienced at least one of the following: food insecurity, housing insecurity, or homelessness.

Hours
The Cougar Cupboard is located in the Morris University Center (MUC)on the 2nd floor. Following signs toward the International Room the Cupboard is directly across the hall from the International Room. The Cougar Cupboard is open the following days and times during the Spring 2024 semester (No appointment necessary):
Volunteer
Volunteer shifts for 2023-2024 school year are available. Sign up on our SignUp Genius page. You will be asked to complete a short training course prior to your first volunteer shift. If you wish to be added to the email list to be notified of any additional volunteer-related events and opportunities, please email cougarcupboard@siue.edu.
