Phenomenal Wom*n Luncheon
The Hub hosts a luncheon to honor the Phenomenal Wom*n of the SIUE campus, SIU system and greater community. This luncheon provides an opportunity for these phenomenal women to be seen and embraced for their works and their impact on others. The annual Phenomenal Wom*n's Luncheon is held during Wom*n's History Month. Highlights of the luncheon include a keynote speaker, featured performers, and sharing the names of the winners of the Phenomenal Wom*n Award.
Students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to nominate wom*n for the award at the beginning of each spring semester. Applications open on January 17, 2023 and close on March 5, 2023.
The awardee and nominator(s) will be invited to attend the Annual Phenomenal Wom*n’s Celebration during Wom*n’s History Month. The 2023 Phenomenal Wom*n Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at noon.
Phenomenal Wom*n Award
The wom*n honored showcase a variety of contributions to their campuses, disciplines, region, nation and world. Nominators are responsible for submitting a 250-500 word description (must include as an attached document/letter) detailing how your nominee demonstrates the below listed criteria. Nominators must also solicit one additional 250-500 word description or letter of support for your nominee. (Two individuals completing an initial nomination for the same nominee will count as one complete nomination).
Nominees:
- Must demonstrate, through their works, a remarkable character; a positive influence; strength; and/or a commitment to antiracism, equity, diversity and inclusion efforts (in class, in teaching, within their organization, etc.)
- Must demonstrate an ability to create understanding, acceptance and/or empathy for all people (within their field of study, community involvements, etc.)
- Must have demonstrated a commitment to break through barriers and challenges to change one's life and/or the lives of others (contributions to field of study, organizations, campus or community initiatives/programs, etc.)
