Course Description
Individually designed and supervised project, such as a student practicum, internship, integrative research paper, presentation, or creative undertaking. Not for graduate credit. Requires Senior standing; and consent of instructor, advisor, and program director.
Course Objectives
In line with the Program Learning Objectives and Outcomes of the Bachelor of Liberal Studies program, students should be able to accomplish the following by the end of this course. While your senior project may not reflect achievement in all of these goals, should reflect most of them.
Steps to take:
1. Meet with the Liberal Studies Program Director at least one semester prior to taking LIBS 400 to discuss ideas for the Senior Project.
2. After an idea for the Senior Project is developed in consultation with the Program Director, identify a faculty member to serve as the instructor of record for LIBS 400. The Program Director can assist in finding a faculty member if the student does not have one in mind.
3. Once a faculty member is identified, the student and faculty member will meet with the Program Director to go over the project topic and to have questions answered about expectations.
4. The student, in consultation with the faculty member, will develop a timeline and synopsis of the project. The student and faculty member will determine in the timeline a regular meeting pattern regarding discussions and feedback about the Senior Project.
5. Students will be prepared to present their Senior Project during the last week of the semester (Finals Week). The Program Director will communicate with students and faculty a few weeks prior to the end of the semester to schedule the Senior Project presentations. All presentations will be presented virtually, unless the student specifies they wish to present in-person.
