Placement Assessments - Students entering the University arrive with varying levels of competence in reading, writing, math, chemistry and physics. It is important that all students entering the University begin taking courses at a level that is appropriate for their continued success. High school grades cannot be used to determine placement for college-level courses.
Proficiency Tests - In general, proficiency examinations are available for all General Education Skills and Introductory courses. In addition, some advanced General Education courses and some departmental courses may offer proficiencies.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP) - CLEP (College-Level Examination Program) is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the United States, with more than 2,900 colleges and universities awarding credit for satisfactory scores on CLEP exams. CLEP examinations measure knowledge of the material usually covered in various classes during the first two years of college.
