PEACe is committed to maintaining a community in which students, faculty and staff can work and learn together in an atmosphere free of all forms of discrimination, including sexual assault and harassment. Sexual assault and harassment violate the dignity of the individual and the integrity of the University as an institution of higher learning, and thus, sexual assault or harassment in any form will not be tolerated at SIUE.
The University is committed to taking all appropriate steps to eliminate prohibited conduct, prevent its recurrence and address its effects. The University is committed to fostering a climate free from sexual assault, sexual misconduct, stalking and relationship violence through clear and effective policies, a coordinated education and prevention program, and prompt and equitable procedures for resolution of complaints that are accessible to all and facilitate prompt reporting. The University encourages all members of our community to participate in the process of creating a safe, welcoming and respectful environment on campus.
PEACe provides opportunities for students to become involved in the prevention of gender-based violence. PEACe works with graduate assistants, interns and student volunteers to educate other students faculty, and staff on how to prevent gender-based violence and on bystander intervention. Education and advocacy take place through peer education, programming and awareness events, guest speaking, and trainings. Students are the leaders in the work that PEACe does!
