Dr. Keith Ware is SIUE’s East St. Louis Center’s New Associate Director
Helping to broaden the scope of the needful and impactful work of the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville East St. Louis Center (ESLC) is the goal of its new associate director, Keith Ware, EdD.
“In my new position, I will make sure our Center continues to grow and develop in varying capacities that continue to shed light on the center participants, as well as those who do the work,” said Ware, previous Upward Bound EC/BEM/Math & Science program director. “I will also continue to reach out to the community to strengthen and build networks and partnerships.”
“Dr. Ware was the absolute superb candidate for associate director,” said ESLC Executive Director Timothy Staples, EdD. “He brings the leadership, tools and vision necessary, not just to get the job done, but to take to us to a higher level. I am extremely pleased to have Dr. Ware in this new role.”
“I take this job seriously because of the importance of the East St. Louis Center,” said Ware. “The Center is a one-stop shop for academic, cultural, and social progression. We are a place that fits the needs of people from varied backgrounds, as well as age demographics.
“We have our Charter High School, federally funded Upward Bound programs, the University’s largest grant which supports SIUE Head Start/Early Head Start, WE CARE Clinic, Learning Resource Center, Building Futures and Project Success programs, along with other programming on campus that do great work.”
“I’m extremely excited and grateful to work at a place and among people who are committed and willing to do the work necessary to service the community,” added Ware. “Dr. Staples and I are only helping to lead the way.”
With a focus on empowering people and strengthening communities, the SIUE East St. Louis Center is dedicated to improving the lives of families and individuals - from pre-school through adult - in the Metro East. Head Start/Early Head Start and a charter high school are among the programs that offer the community renewed hope and an opportunity to reach educational, career and life goals. The Center also assigns first priority to encouraging, supporting and improving the educational success of the residents of East St. Louis and surrounding urban communities. The Center provides comprehensive programs, services and training in the areas of education, health, social services and the arts.
