2013 Distinguished Research Professor
Majid Molki, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Molki is recognized as the 2013 Distinguished Research Professor for his contributions to heat transfer and thermal-fluid sciences. Molki exemplifies diversity in research, having published articles on such broad topics as electrodynamics for enhancement of heat transfer, electronics cooling, heat-mass transfer, and vortex dynamics. His current focus is advanced computational research involving fundamental problems in fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
Since his promotion to Professor in 2004, Molki has authored or co-authored 14 journal papers, 11 conference papers, 4 presentations, 3 editorials, and 2 book reviews. Molki is well-known among colleagues for his thoroughness and versatility. In the words of one colleague, "The breadth of his research is especially noteworthy. There is hardly a topic in the field of heat transfer that he has not dealt with… his work is broad, deep, and innovative." Another colleague adds, "His contributions, which encompassed innovative techniques in experimental and numerical heat transfer, have become standard reference." Molki's recognition in the field is reflected in his roles as executive editor of Heat Transfer Engineering, regional editor of Scientia Iranica, and editorial advisory board member of International Journal of Engineering.
In addition to his research endeavors, Molki has also been recognized for his involvement with undergraduate and graduate students. He received a Disability Awareness Appreciation Award for continuous support of students with disabilities in 2012, a Teaching Recognition Award from SIUE for the 2005-2006 academic year, and the 2006 Outstanding Teacher of the Mechanical Engineering Department Award.
Molki notes that most of his publications are co-authored with graduate and undergraduate students. He has mentored undergraduate students in the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities program (URCA) and, this past summer, supervised and graduated the first PhD student of mechanical engineering. He is the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) faculty advisor for SIUE and a founding faculty advisor for Alpha Chi chapter of Pi Tau Sigma at SIUE.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Majid Molki, 2013 Distinguished Research Professor of Mechanical Engineering.
