Internship Programs and Courses
Undergraduate Level – ECON 488: Professional Experience
General: Individualized learning experience designed to connect student classroom learning to professional employment setting. Provides practical experience in the Economics field to provide application of theory to actual problems in a non-classroom situation. The ECON 488 internship course may be taken for 3 credit hours. The course may not be repeated. In order to complete 3 credit hours, you must complete at least 120 hours on the job as an intern with the company that is sponsoring your internship.
Prerequisite: In good standing in the School of Business or College of Arts & Sciences Economics program.
Restrictions: Must be junior or senior standing, enrolled in the School of Business Economics specialization or College of Arts & Sciences Economics program, and receive approval from the Program Director.
Internship Company: It is your responsibility to find an internship position. You may find positions advertised through the School of Business Office of Internship Services, Career Development Center, or you may find positions through advertisements or by other means. The Economics and Finance department does not provide internship positions.
Enrollment Requirements and Procedures: ECON 488 is credited as an Economics elective within your program of study. In order to enroll, you must report your experience in Cougar Jobline and complete the Internship Approval Form (hyperlinks below) and deliver it to the Internship Coordinator as evidence that you have identified a firm that is willing to sponsor the internship. Enrollment will not be approved until the form is received.

End of Term Evaluation:
- Employer Evaluation Form – Log into your Cougar Jobline account, click on Experiential Learning, click on your current experience, click on Documents and Forms, click on the three vertical dots next to Employer Evaluation to share this form with your supervisor. It is your responsibility to ensure your supervisor completes this form.
- Submit the required paper as per the course syllabus.

The course may not be repeated. In order to complete 3 credit hours, you must complete at least 120 hours on the job as an intern with the company that is sponsoring your internship.
