Graduate Level – ACCT 596: Professional Experience in Accountancy
General: The student works in an accounting internship or accounting position that requires skills related to the graduate accounting program. The firm must sponsor the position. The supervisor's credentials will typically include a graduate accounting degree, CPA, other accounting designations or commensurate accounting experience. The ACCT 596 professional experience course may be taken for 3 credit hours. The course may not be repeated. In order to complete 3 credit hours, you must complete at least 120 hours on the job in the approval role with the company that is sponsoring your experience.
Restrictions: Must be enrolled in the Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) program and receive approval from the Program Director.
Enrollment Requirements and Procedures: ACCT 596 is credited as a Business elective within your program of study. In order to enroll, you must report your experience in Cougar Jobline and complete the Internship Approval Form (hyperlinks below) and deliver it to the Internship Coordinator as evidence that you have identified a firm that is willing to sponsor the internship. Enrollment will not be approved until the form is received.

- Report Experience in Cougar Jobline – Log into your Cougar Jobline account, click on Experiential Learning, and click on + New Experience. Enter the required information and submit to your internship supervisor for approval.
- Internship Approval & Enrollment Form [pdf] – Complete this form and email to the School of Business Internship Coordinator.
End of Term Evaluation:
- Employer Evaluation Form – Log into your Cougar Jobline account, click on Experiential Learning, click on your current experience, click on Documents and Forms, click on the three vertical dots next to Employer Evaluation to share this form with your supervisor. It is your responsibility to ensure your supervisor completes this form.
- Submit the required paper as per the course syllabus.
