What is the process for completing a Form I-9?

This form must be completed at the Office of Human Resources no later than the employee's first day of employment. It is the responsibility of the hiring unit to make arrangements for the completion of a federally required "Employment Eligibility Verification" Form, more commonly referred to as the "I-9." It is also the responsibility of the hiring unit to inform new employees of the proper identification required to complete the I-9. A list of acceptable identification can be found at https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/acceptable-documents/list-documents/form-i-9-acceptable-documents. The hiring unit is also responsible for sending a memo with the employee's start date, position title, and account number to which the drug and alcohol test will be billed. Anytime there is a break in employment the employee must complete a new I-9.
