McNair Scholars Application Fee & Tuition Waiver Program
At SIUE, graduate students enhance their learning by participating in meaningful scholarly research and innovative activities. Individuals with proof of undergraduate McNair Scholar status will have their application fee waived.
Beginning in Fall 2019, a certain number of McNair Scholars, who meet the selection criteria below, will receive a tuition waiver for each term of study required for the completion of one master's degree program. The approximate value of the tuition waiver is $9,898 per year (as funding is available) and the number of eligible semesters will depend upon the requirements of the graduate program. Award recipients are responsible for all fees and living expenses.
Selection Criteria for Tuition Waiver Deadline:
- Have 3.0 cumulative GPA for undergraduate courses
- Be admitted to an SIUE master's program
- Submit a personal statement that includes a summary of previous research experience
- One Letter of Recommendation
- Provide proof of undergraduate McNair Scholar status
- Be enrolled in one graduate level course
Deadline: All documents must be received no later than April 15th
Important: The application fee will be waived once a graduate application is submitted and the McNair Program Participation Verification Form has been received.
