Help SIUE Stay Fiscally Strong
This month, alumni leaders from the 12 Illinois public universities wrote to members of the Illinois General Assembly requesting their support for public higher education in the upcoming budget cycle. Fortunately, despite the devastating impact of the coronavirus on the state’s economy, the governor’s introduced budget held higher education funding level. Our hope is that the final budget will ensure universities don’t lose money from the previous year. Educating more than 180,000 students each year and employing over 60,000 people, the vast majority of which are Illinois residents, public universities like SIUE are cornerstones for economic development across the state and are vital to regional economies.
Will you take a moment today to contact your local state senator and state representative to tell them how important it is for the state to fund colleges and universities like SIUE?
You can do so by using the Find My Elected Officials legislator look-up on this website. You will enter your home address to find contact information for your local state representative and state senator so you can thank them for all they do for SIUE and request their support for our budget for the coming year.
