Blackboard is a learning management system that allows students and faculty to engage with each other in a virtual learning environment. It can be used to support a variety of learning activities, such as group discussions, collaborative projects, and
writing assignments. Blackboard is utilized in different ways by faculty. Some use it to enhance face-to-face courses with online learning materials, such as text and video content, while others use it to hold class discussions, accept assignment submissions, or deliver an entire course online. Thousands of SIUE students use Blackboard every semester, in their online, face-to-face, and blended/hybrid courses. You will find resources for many Blackboard tools linked below, as well as through the searchable ITS Knowledgebase. If you would like more information on the capabilities of Blackboard or how you might use it to meet your instructional needs, please contact ITS at firstname.lastname@example.org or during normal business hours at 618-650-5500. We are located in LB 0005, in the basement of Lovejoy Library.
Faculty, please note: Blackboard courses are not created automatically. The person listed as the “instructor of record” in Banner must request a Blackboard course using the appropriate request form below. Please allow 3-5 business days for your request to be processed.
