Blackboard 9.1 Upgrade
|
As part of the commitment to improving teaching and learning, SIUE will be upgrading the institutional learning management system from Blackboard 8 to Blackboard 9.1 at the start of the Fall 2012 semester. The Blackboard 9 interface is different from Blackboard 8 although most of the tools and functionality should feel familiar to current Blackboard 8 users.
ITS encourages Blackboard users to read the informational email messages that will be sent out periodically, follow the ITS Twitter feed, watch for updates on the resource pages, and attend the information and training sessions ITS will be offering throughout the spring and summer semesters in order to become familiar with the new system.

--------------------------------------------------------
Blackboard is a learning management system that allows students and faculty to share and engage with learning materials and to communicate with each other in a virtual learning environment. Blackboard is extremely flexible and offers many different capabilities. Faculty members can use a Blackboard site to simply enhance a course with online handouts and electronic reserves or to deliver a completely online course where the students never meet face-to-face. Thousands of SIUE students use Blackboard every semester with their courses. A popular feature is the online Grade Center, which allows them to keep up-to-date with their progress in each course.
If you would like more information on the capabilities of Blackboard or how you might use it to meet your instructional needs, please contact ITS at ftc_help@siue.edu or during normal business hours at 618-650-5500. We are located in LB 0005, in the basement of Lovejoy Library.
