Responsible Employee Obligations
All University employees (except those bound by a legal privilege, such as licensed medical providers or counselors in Counseling and Health Services) who are informed about a sexual assault, sexual misconduct or relationship violence are required to report the information to a campus reporting contact or to the Title IX coordinator or designee.
The designated campus reporting contacts are:
- Office of Equal Opportunity, Access and Title IX Coordination
- SIUE Police Department
- Student Affairs/Dean of Students
- Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion
- University Housing Professional Staff
- Sexual Harassment Advisors
- Office of Human Resources (when an employee is involved)
Beyond making an assessment of immediate health and safety needs, a responsible employee is not expected to ask questions of the person making the report or conduct any investigative activities. As a responsible employee, your job is to make sure the information related to the incident is communicated to a campus reporting contact. This ensures the affected persons will be connected with appropriate resources and responsive strategies can be initiated quickly.
