The demographic composition of the community has a great deal of influence on economic redevelopment.  Questions of average age, education level and economic level may determine whether or not a company will chose to relocate to a particular area.  The answers to these questions are maintained by many (often non-profit) organizations whose mission is to promote downtown revitalization.  Many of these organizations maintain a comprehensive data base of metropolitan demographics.
