The demographic composition of the community
has a great deal of influence on economic redevelopment. Questions
of average age, education level and economic level may determine whether
or not a company will chose to relocate to a particular area. The
answers to these questions are maintained by many (often non-profit)
organizations whose mission is to promote downtown revitalization.
Many of these organizations maintain a comprehensive data base of
metropolitan demographics.
