Civil Engineering Team Awarded $462K from IDOT to Improve Scour Estimate Analyses for Bridge Stability

Faculty and staff in the Department of Civil Engineering have been awarded a $462K grant by Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for a 4-year research project that will analyze scour estimates at bridge sites in Illinois to produce findings that will lead to improvements related to bridge design and maintenance. The 2019 National University Rankings in Washington Monthly’s Top National Universities ranked SIUE first in the nation in community and public service. This ranking evaluated 395 universities in the United States that award doctoral degrees and includes prestigious institutions such as Harvard, MIT, and Princeton. The SIUE American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter participated in the 2019 Saint Louis Science Center SciFest Engineering Expo on Saturday, Feb. 23.
