Welcome to SIUE! The Office of First-Year and Transitional Advising is here to help you transition smoothly to your new university home. We guide students through the transfer process, connect you with the right advising resources based on your credits and major, and help you maximize your transfer credit hours.

Our Commitment

We know transferring can feel overwhelming, but SIUE is here to support you every step of the way. From advising to New Student Orientation to Welcome Weekend, our advisors and staff are ready to help you succeed academically, socially, and personally.

Step 1: Submit Transfer Credits

Request official transcripts from all institutions where you’ve earned college credit, including AP and/or IB scores:

• Electronically: etranscripts@siue.edu (must be sent directly from the institution)
• By Mail: SIUE Office of Admissions, Campus Box 1047, Edwardsville, IL 62026-1047

Step 2: Advisement

Once your transfer credits are evaluated, schedule an advising appointment:

Students with fewer than 30 credits at time of admission or exploratory: Contact the Office of First-Year and Transitional Advising at 618-650-3701 or email advising@siue.edu.

Step 3: New Student Orientation

New transfer students will receive information about New Student Orientation, SIUE’s mandatory orientation program designed to prepare students for advising, registration, and a successful transition to the University.

Step 4: Welcome Weekend

Welcome Weekend provides opportunities to connect with peers, understand academic expectations, and receive support for a smooth transition. Learn more about Welcome Weekend.
