On behalf of our advising team, welcome to SIUE! First Year Advising is dedicated to supporting students as they begin their academic journey, explore academic pathways, and transition successfully through their early years at the University.
Academic advising is a collaborative and student-centered process. Our advisors partner with students to explore interests, clarify academic and career goals, understand degree requirements, and develop intentional plans for success. Advising is an essential part of the SIUE experience, and students are expected to meet with their assigned advisor each semester to plan coursework and remain on track toward graduation.
We are committed to providing a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment where students feel empowered to take an active role in their academic decisions but also feel supported in the process. Our goal is to help students build a strong foundation for long-term success at SIUE and beyond.
