What do you expect from your teen
during the high school years?
What kind of grades, what chores
shouldbe done, what is their curfew,
how should your teen treat you in
public.

It’s important to have a shared
understanding of how your teen
should behave at home and away from home. Teen’s crave consistency, as they don’t typically do well with phrases/concepts like we will see”, sometimes, maybe, it depends… they will typically hear “yes” or “no”… when there is not clear and consistent direction. Now, it doesn’t mean that they will do what you ask consistently, but at least they will know when they are not following the rules.

And while discussing expectations is good, having something on paper is better. Work with your teen to come up with a mutually “understood” document.
