Become a Welcome Weekend Leader
Help new Cougars connect, belong, and start their SIUE experience strong.
Welcome Weekend Leaders are part of the Cougar Connector team within New Student and Family Programs. They play an important role in welcoming new students to campus, building community, and helping students make connections during their first days at SIUE.
As a Welcome Weekend Leader, you will:
- Welcome new students as they arrive on campus and begin their SIUE experience.
- Help students meet other new Cougars and build connections.
- Facilitate small-group activities, conversations, and Welcome Weekend experiences.
- Serve as a positive and knowledgeable peer resource.
- Help students navigate Welcome Weekend activities and campus.
- Work alongside other student leaders and campus partners to create an inclusive, engaging, and welcoming experience for new Cougars.
What You'll Gain
Serving as a Welcome Weekend Leader is more than helping with events. You'll develop skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, facilitation, problem-solving, and peer support while helping new students build connections and find their place at SIUE.
