Inclusive pedagogy is a teaching approach that acknowledges and respects the diversity of all learners, and strives to create a learning environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. It ensures that all learners have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Below are resources and support to enhance your inclusive teaching.

Digital Accessibility
Title 2 and IITAA require all public universities to be in compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA guidance by April 24, 2026. The university has also recently adopted an accessibility policy in line with this effort. For an overview of these requirements visit our hub for digital accessibility. To help support this, we are offering training and support for faculty as they learn to create "born accessible" materials, source compliant materials, and remediate content. These efforts include:

Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) Courses
The SIU System has partnered with ACUE to offer our faculty professional development through their platform. ACUE offers courses in Fostering a Culture of Belonging, AI, and other pertinent topics. Additionally, ACUE’s Effective College Instruction Certificate is the only American Council of Education recognized program.
