The team is developing a new environmentally sustainable raw material to enrich the breaking and forming of new polymer chains to create Nopal based bio-plastic that can be used to produce disposable products and packaging for different products in the market.

Project 3- Battery Sorter
CJD E-Cycling is a family-owned business that serves the St. Louis area and recycles electronics. Batteries are one of the products recycled through the company due to the highly toxic chemicals they contain. Because of the hazards correlated with having a variety of chemicals mixed in one container, an employee must sort each battery by hand reading each label. This current process is time-consuming, expensive, and results in a human error; therefore, an automated process using image processing will be designed to significantly improve the recycling of batteries.

Project 6- Lightweight Umbrella Stroller with Extendable Changing Station - LUSTLECS
The is working on a portable stroller that seeks to enter the growing market of lightweight baby strollers as the most functional umbrella-style product by offering an extendable changing station feature not yet available in any stroller product category. The improved LUSTLECS provides a safe and easy to set up a changing station that makes it highly functional for families wanting to avoid the burden of planning trips around bathroom facilities while “on the go.”
