WAR & CONFLICT

War and conflict can be attributed to human nature, the distribution of political power within a nation, and the absence of a world government for resolving disputes.  In modern wars, the weapons used have greater destructive capabilities.  More civilians than soldiers become injured or killed.  The cost of war increases with the destruction of land and resources and the increased numbers of refugees. Nuclear proliferation, in particular, imposes dangerous threats to the environment, climate and population of the world.
