HUMAN RIGHTS

Inequalities in the distribution of wealth weigh heaviest on women, children, and minority ethnic groups.   Human rights violations can be civil, political, or economic in nature.  The goals of the human rights movement include enforcing standards, preventing mass atrocities, protecting victims, rebuilding countries, and bringing persecutors to justice.  Human rights issues specific to women and children include infant mortality, violence against women, child labor, and discrimination.
