Welcome to SOAR!

Students in a Lab

SIUE's Student Opportunities for Academic Results (SOAR) is an academic program dedicated to helping students excel in their educational experience.

Upon being admitted to the program, students will receive academic advising from our Academic Advisor, free tutoring from our knowledgeable and experienced tutors, in addition to other services such as mentoring. All of these services are provided free of charge to the students to promote academic success and growth.

This year, we have a adopted a policy that C's will no longer be acceptable grades. With all the services provided to students in the SOAR program, it should be possible to get an A or B in any class taken.

Our Director, Dr. Earleen Patterson and Academic Advisor, Michelle Jenkins, are well-versed and experienced in academic advising, thus preventing SOAR students from enrolling in unnecessary courses that could prove to be a waste of time and money. They care about their students' success and take an active role in their students' academic development.  Our advisors receive grade and progress reports for SOAR students every semester and are prepared to intervene when necessary to facilitate better-quality coursework and class participation.

Please use the navigation menu above to learn more about various aspects of our program.
