SIUE's Student Opportunities for Academic Results (SOAR) is an academic program dedicated to helping underrepresented students excel during their educational experiences at SIUE.
Upon being admitted to the program, students will receive academic advising from our Academic Advisors, free tutoring from knowledgeable and experienced tutors, in addition to other services such as mentoring and professional workshops. All of these services are provided free of charge to the students to promote academic success and growth.
Dr. Earleen Patterson, our Director, and Mr. Darryl Cherry, our Coordinator of Student Retention, are both well-versed and experienced in academic advising. They care about our students' success and take active roles in our students' academic development. Our advisors receive grade and progress reports for SOAR students every semester and are prepared to intervene when necessary to facilitate better-quality coursework and class participation.
Please use the navigation menu to the left to learn more about various aspects of our program.
Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm.
We are located in the Student Success Center, Suite 1259 (Enter through the Academic Advancement Center, Suite 1220, and go to your left. You will see the SOAR Department directly ahead.)
