Award Winning Faculty
Faculty and instructors in SIUE’s Department of History are committed to understanding the past--from the ancient world to the recent past--through their teaching, research and service. Many of our faculty have won awards for their innovative, passionate teaching. Books and articles written by our faculty have received numerous prizes. And, our faculty regularly lead University programs, take students on travel study trips around the world, and serve on community history projects.
Mission Statement
History studies the past to understand the present. We prepare students to become community engaged citizens, scholars, and educators with a deep appreciation for diverse global perspectives. Our students are curious and analytical thinkers, ready for a range of careers.
