Overview
Taishan Academic Forum-Moral Education will gather some of the leading scholars in moral education in the world today and discuss most important issues concerning both researchers and practitioners in the field. Under the theme of “globalization and moral education reform”, our world-renowned speakers will address the following questions:
• What should be the aims guiding our educational practice in the 21st century? Where does the moral purpose fit in? How should we move forward school reform?
• How should and can schools respond to the challenge of globalization while promoting social justice and participative citizenship?
• What are the problems and promises of liberalism as a theoretical framework of moral education? What are the lessons we can learn from the liberalism-based moral education practice in the West?
• What are the challenges and hopes in Chinese moral education reform?
• What has been done in citizenship and moral education in other Asian regions such as Singapore?
• Can we still learn from the moral development theory? What is the relationship between moral judgment and moral behavior in adolescents?
• What about teacher education for moral education? What does it mean to “professionalize” moral education?
These and many more questions will engage researchers and educators in lively discussions, debates, and dialogues. The forum will provide participants an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with world-class scholars in moral education and reflect on the history of our field, trace recent development of scholarship, and look forward to our future. |
