Zhu Xiaoman

Zhu Xiaoman has been a Professor of Education at Beijing Normal University since 2007. She received her doctorate from Nanjing Normal University, taught at its School of Education, directed the Institute of Moral Education and later became the university’s vice president (1996-2002). During 2002-2007, she was president of the National Institute of Educational Research in Beijing and was director of UNESCO International Center of Rural Education Research and Training during 2007-2010. Dr. Zhu served as Vice President of Chinese National Academy of Education (2005-2012), President of Chinese History of Education Research Association (2004-2012), and State Superintendent of Schools (2005-2012). She is currently the President of Tao Xingzhi Society, an overseas member of the Russian National Academy of Education, and a leadership member of the Chinese National Educational Science Development Committee.

Dr’s Zhu’s research interests include educational theory, philosophy of moral education, teacher education, and affective education. She is author of A Theoretical Framework on Emotional Education, co-author of The Challenge to Education and Response in Ideas, and editor of A Comparative Study of Educational Reform in China and Russia. She has also published about 200 articles. Since the 1990s, Dr. Zhu has led numerous nationally funded research projects, and been invited to address international conferences in countries such as Russia, the U.S., UK, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Bulgaria, and Brazil.
