SIUE Student Parent Group's Next Monthly Meeting Today

Monthly meetings have been designed to connect, develop support networks and build community for students who are parents.

The format of these meetings is designed to meet the interests and needs of group members and may range from stress management, study skills, career planning and family finances to parent education and child development.

Meetings are facilitated by representatives from Counseling Services. Some group meetings may feature speakers from the larger campus or metro community.

Participants must pre-register the Friday before each Monday meeting in order to plan for child care and food.

Children are welcome, but must be preregistered so we can have appropriate child care. A light dinner (pizza) will be provided.

Please note the following remaining meeting dates during the spring term:

• Today
• April 4
• May 1

4:30-6:30 p.m.
SIUE Early Childhood Center

What some student parents are saying about the group:
“I feel like I do better because I feel like I am not the only person with these stresses. I feel it makes my life a little bit better.”

“It is a place I can come where other people understand the stress and challenges that come with being a student parent.”

“I’ve gained confidence as a parent and have friends who are in similar situations.”

“It’s just a place you can relax and be with other people who can relate to you because they have to balance school and kids, too.”

Chancellor's Report on the SIUE Congress Rescheduled, March 14

SIUE Interim Chancellor Stephen Hansen has rescheduled his report to the University community on the results of the SIUE congress:

10 a.m.
Monday, March 14
Morris University Center Meridian Ballroom

"As you are well aware, the University is at a critical juncture where resources, growth, and program expansion all dictate different courses of action," said Hansen. "I hope you will be able to join us when I present the Action Plans developed by the SIUE congress. These plans are important for the University, as they provide us with a way forward for this year and next."

Nomination Deadline for Employee Recognition Program, March 16

The Employee Recognition Program Award is an esteemed accolade bestowed on an employee who epitomizes the University’s core values in his/her daily work. The employee is engaged in accomplishing the mission of the University and routinely exceeds the call of duty. Do you work alongside someone who has a strong commitment toward achieving excellence in their work?

Why not nominate them for the Employee Recognition Program award? The program is designed to recognize civil service and professional staff employees for their exceptional accomplishments and service to our community. Employees may be nominated for this prestigious award by faculty, staff or students. The nomination must be made or supported by the immediate supervisor.

More information regarding rewards, nomination criteria and the nomination form can be obtained Employee Recognition.

Nominations are due in the Office of Human Resources by close of business Wednesday, March 16 to be eligible for the April award.

Since employees may receive the award only once, please contact Maria Marmolejo at 650-2127 before submitting a nomination.
