Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering Program Received ABET Accreditation

ABET just informed the MME department that the Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering program has received ABET accreditation. All previous graduates from the MRE program will be retroactively recognized as graduating from the newly accredited program.
Also, ABET has re-accredited the Mechanical Engineering program. This is a recognition of the quality of our programs, and all faculty members, students, and previous graduates are to be congratulated for this great news!

Accelerated B.S. in MRE and M.S. in ME program

Students in the B.S. in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering program are now eligible to enter the accelerated M.S. in Mechanical Engineering program. This program provides MRE B.S. students the same benefit of accelerated B.S. and M.S. program that ME B.S. students have already enjoyed. To apply, a student needs to have a GPA of at least 3.25, and no more than 32 credit hours remaining in the B.S. program of study. A student admitted in this program may simultaneously take B.S. and M.S. course...

The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering is pleased to welcome Dr. Arman Dabiri! Dr. Dabiri received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Before joining SIUE, Dr. Dabiri was an Assistant Professor at Eastern Michigan University. Dr. Dabiri’s specialty is robotics and control systems. He will be an especially valuable addition to the Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering program.

SIUE Cougar Baja is a student chapter in the mechanical engineering department, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. The team is made up of about 30 ME/MRE students. ME/IE Department Picnic was held September 27th

The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering departments hosted a picnic for faculty, staff, and students.
It was a great afternoon spent eating BBQ, playing games, networking, listening to music, as well as spending time with fellow students and professors. The highlight of the picnic was a Tug-of-War match between Mechanical and Industrial departments.This year Mechanical Engineering earned the rights to hold the championship trophy!
