Good news for the MME department! Our student, Kimberly Roskamp received the 2nd place award at the ISPE Student Poster Contest with her URCA study. Kimberly has been enthusiastic about renewable energy since her freshmen year and has completed her UG degree successfully. In the 2023 Provost's Celebration of Research Reception held on April 4, 2023, the graduate school announced two patents to the SIUE community, both of them has contributions by the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. MRE student Ugo Eleonu participated in TheOther40 competition this year and won 2nd Prize, with a $3,000 in prize money.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Engineering (SOE) students received global recognition at the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 2022 Design Competition. Chris Couch received his mechanical engineering degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2019 and since then has seen great success in his career in the pumping industry. Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering Program Received ABET Accreditation

ABET just informed the MME department that the Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering program has received ABET accreditation. All previous graduates from the MRE program will be retroactively recognized as graduating from the newly accredited program.
Also, ABET has re-accredited the Mechanical Engineering program. This is a recognition of the quality of our programs, and all faculty members, students, and previous graduates are to be congratulated for this great news!

Accelerated B.S. in MRE and M.S. in ME program

Students in the B.S. in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering program are now eligible to enter the accelerated M.S. in Mechanical Engineering program. This program provides MRE B.S. students the same benefit of accelerated B.S. and M.S. program that ME B.S. students have already enjoyed. To apply, a student needs to have a GPA of at least 3.25, and no more than 32 credit hours remaining in the B.S. program of study.
