Aquatics
In order to minimize the risks associated with COVID-19 to the SIUE community, the Department of Campus Recreation is adhering to CDC guidelines in addition to Phase-4 directions from the State of Illinois Department of Public Health.
Current Indoor Pool Hours (click here for hours):
Although right now the Indoor Pool's hours may not match up with everyone’s usual exercise routine, we hope that you understand that we are doing our best to adequately staff the peak-use hours.
- Family Night is Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
- Only one swimmer per lane, unless swimmers live in the same household.
- Lanes will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
Our Indoor Pool has six 25-yard lanes, one-meter spring diving board, and adjacent men's and women's locker rooms.
A chair lift is available to assist patrons with pool access and offers a variety of water fitness activities.

Rules & Regulations
Swimming Pool Regulations
The following rules are necessary to support the safety and health of all users and to preserve the facility.
- Swim only when a lifeguard is on duty.
- Please follow the lifeguards’ instructions at all times.
- Proper I.D. must be presented to the lifeguard before using the pool.
- No running is permitted on deck.
- Diving is not permitted in the shallow end.
- Please do not use the pool if suffering from any skin or communicable diseases or open wounds.
- Gum is not allowed.
- Food and drinks, other than water in a non-breakable container are not permitted unless it is approved for a special event and can only be in the spectator area.
- An approved swimsuit is required. Synthetic material (rashguard) shirts are also permitted over a swimsuit.
- No hazardous activity or inappropriate behavior is allowed. Examples include, but are not limited to, dunking other participants underwater, and prolonged breath-holding or jumping/diving into an area where another participant is swimming.
- Street shoes are not permitted on the pool deck.
- Only one person is allowed on the diving board at a time, and multiple bounces are not permitted.
- All back dives are prohibited.
- Use of scuba equipment is prohibited during lap and recreational swims.
- Individuals who are unable to swim the width of the pool may not dive or enter the deep end.
- Swimmers who are not able to demonstrate appropriate swimming ability may be restricted to the shallow end and/or required to wear a life vest.
Youth/Family Swim Regulations
- A parent or guardian must accompany and directly supervise children under the age of 16.
- Children are allowed to use only United States Coast Guard (USCG) approved personal flotation devices.
- Children are not permitted to run or bounce on the diving board.
- Members may bring only immediate family members into the indoor pool during family swim periods unless a guest pass has been purchased. Immediate family is defined as spouse and children only.
