How Do I Do It?


1.    Identify Groups, Industry, and Product


The class will be divided into groups of five. Each assigned group will be given an industry category from below and they must choose one product/brand for this project. As a group, the students will choose one product/brand from the industry category they have been assigned:

Industry Categories

º    Clothing
º    Music
º    Cosmetics
º    Tobacco
º    Alcohol


2.    Determine Group Roles


Once your product/brand has been selected, appoint each group member with the task of researching one of the following marketing strategies:

Background/Target Audience

Loaded Language

Product Placement

Celebrity Spokesperson

Emotional Appeal


Once the roles have been determined, each student can click on their role (above) for detailed information and resources for their role in the project.

3.    Putting It All Together


Once each member has completed their findings, the groups must collaborate their summaries into one paper. Each group member should contribute a one page write-up. The group will also present their findings to the class in a 15 minute Powerpoint presentation. Please review the Evaluation page for more details.
