Specific approval of the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research is required for each offering of a 400 or 500 level course by academic faculty who are not current members of the Graduate Faculty; the only exceptions are 400 level courses specifically designated 'not for graduate credit.' The appropriate form should be submitted and approval obtained prior to scheduling a non-member of the Graduate Faculty to teach a 400 or 500 level course. Approval to teach a course is specific to a given course and a given term; this approval does not confer Graduate Faculty status on the instructor.
