Xiyue “Elsie” Deng, PhD, of Edwardsville died Friday, Sept. 8.
Deng joined SIUE in 2021 as an assistant professor in the School of Business’ Department of Management and Marketing, following completion of her PhD at the University of Toledo. Her research areas included supply chain management, supply chain risk management and disruptions, sustainability, strategic SCM and applied text analytics.
“In the short time she was with us, Elsie was a vivacious and energetic force for good,” said Janice Joplin, interim dean of the School of Business. “She was student-centered, produced outstanding research, and was an exemplar of the teacher-scholar model. Elsie’s students very much appreciated her as a professor and the loss is felt deeply among our School and students.”
