Need for Private Support

SIUE is a state-assisted university; 46 percent of the operating budget is supported by state appropriations. These appropriations maintain the infrastructure of the University and yearly operating costs to provide a quality education.

With rising enrollment, new disciplines and expanded degree programs, the generosity of private funding is the only means to ensure the future of excellence in education at SIUE. Investing in Lovejoy Library’s collections, digital offerings and its facilities will serve all students and permanently impact the value of education.

Over the years, private funding has:

• Purchased the first computers for the Library
• Created the Rare Book Room
• Established endowments that support programs and materials, special collections, preservation and scholarships
