ITS follows Copyright and Fair Use guidelines when copying video/audio for classroom use. Streaming video/audio allows students to watch segments of video and/or listen to segments of audio without downloading the file and possibly violating copyright laws.
ITS will convert most video formats (DVD,VHS, Hi8, MiniDV, Blu Ray) or most audio formats and will upload the files to our new streaming media server. Once the media has been uploaded to the streaming server, ITS staff will then send the link(s) of the media to the faculty via email. Faculty can then insert link into their Blackboard course.
Copyright permission for non-original work is the responsibility of the requesting faculty, staff or student and must be in written or digital form. Copyright permission must be received in ITS before work can begin. All work must be classroom or SIUE related. Please allow 5 business days.
For more information or to make arrangement to drop off your videos contact ITS at ftc_help@siue.edu or by calling 650-5500.
