HIRING UNIT: OFFICE OF THE PROVOST
TITLE/RANK: Director of Business Affairs
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Business Affairs Director represents the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (PVCAA) in all business and budgetary affairs. He/She has fiscal officer authority and propriety approval for general revenue funds, local activity funds, and foundation funds in the Provost’s functional area. This position supervises the planning and execution of the Academic Affairs budget (over $99 million State-funded dollars), and assumes functional responsibility for an additional $40 million in local and grant funds allocated to Decision Centers. This individual assures all academic units fulfill their fiscal responsibilities to maintain the overall integrity of the Academic Affairs Budget. The Director of Business Affairs establishes budget policy and procedural matters for one college, seven schools, the University library, and five major service units. The Director also provides fiscal advice, instruction, and training to all deans, directors, chairs, their staffs, and other fiscal officers as well as directs and guides subordinate budget officers through almost daily contact. He/She directly prepares and executes the budget of almost $11 million for the PVCAA’s office. Assists with the development of the annual Resource Allocation Management Program (RAMP) request. Serves as a member of the Provost’s Senior Staff, the Academic Affairs Control Group, and the Budget/HR Group. The Director is also a liaison for academic buildings in University Park, supervises a Business Administrative Associate and represents the Provost on University-level committees and special meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: The successful candidate must possess a Master’s Degree in Business, preferably in Accounting; plus five years of experience in computational, financial or planning positions. Applicant must possess the ability to use PC and/or mainframe applications and tools to produce analytical reports. Must have strong management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Oracle experience is required.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Professional staff, non-bargaining, 12 month continuing, 100%.
SALARY RANGE: Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
