Podcastaganza!

Podcasts are the main media I consume on a regular basis. I started listening to WTF with host Marc Maron when I was just getting out of high school. From there, I started listening to other podcasts that were created by my other favorite comedians. I recently have started listening to crime mystery ones too, but those can get pretty dark. Podcasts are great for may reasons. The most popular podcasts are interview style, usually with one host and a variety of new and reoccurring guests. There are other podcasts though that are more of the old school Radio “storytelling” format. While I can find a good one now and again, they can come off a bit cheesy. One of my new favorite styles of podcasts are movie and TV retrospectives. The ones hosted by Wisecrack are usually the best because they always have a philosophic spin. The best podcasts are the ones where I learn a lot about someone or something I have never known anything about, or the ones that make me laugh and help elevate my mood. I have always thought about starting a podcast, but I wouldn’t really have much to talk about. A good podcast has people who have lots of life experience. A lot of podcasters have a knack for telling stories and engaging a conversation and the audience at the same time. Having a "radio voice" is also very appealing. When people have to hear you talk for hours on end, it definitly helps to have a voice people actually want to hear. The general concept of making podcasts these day is gain fame and popularity on your own, and then use that popularity to gain a following in the podcast world. However, anyone could make a podcast. It takes a low budget to start up and their are no restrictions for what content to use. For anyone interested in starting to listen to podcasts, you can find a list of my top ten favorite podcasts. For anyone interested in starting their own, you can also find a list of essentials to help get started on your first podcast.
